BEAT CULTURE - ORANGE (FEAT. NIVA)
Here’s the amazing new track from Beat Culture called “Orange” and features Stockholm-based producer NIVA. Flawless production chops as usual, gorgeous electronic instrumentation paints a vibrantly uplifting wall of sound tinted with slight tropical colors while NIVA’s wispy vocals lightly brush on a melody. This is the first single from Beat Culture’s forthcoming album Forgive set to drop on October 11th. You can support the release of the album on vinyl here.

Beat Culture with NIVA - ‘Orange’
The last time Sunik Kim collaborated with a guest vocalist the resulting track, ‘Slow Fight’, came out as a hyper-ballad where Beat Culture lifted the croon of Vyxor with poly-rhythmic garage in a glorious mesh of piled-on ideas. ‘Useless’ followed working in complete contrast, a smooth linear jam of steel-pan keys and Balearic-tinged electronica. New song ‘Orange’ is an alloy of the two.
Collaborating again, Sunik has teamed up with Swedish singer Niva in what is the lead single off Beat Culture’s new album Forgive. Niva’s warm ghost vocals add a wraithy soul to Kim’s glo-fi waves, static effects and controlled maximalist spikes - it’s a fruitful absolution.
Forgive is out October 11th via via Art Union/PLANCHA, Bandcamp and other digital sources. There’s a fundraiser happening to get the LP to vinyl, do what you can by visiting http://www.indiegogo.com/beatcultcha

This eclectic, yet harmonious set has been assembled by new face, Mister Lies— otherwise known as Nick Zanca of Chicago and previously New Canaan, Connecticut. The teenage producer has received support from heavyweight tastemakers Pitchfork and Consequence of Sound for good reason: with an EP (Hidden Neighbors), a collaborative release (Mass via Absent Fever), and a compilation (SVENGALI VOL 2) behind him, he’s successfully established a distinct, innovative presence in the American electronic scene.
Zanca constructs his sound from the bottom up by field recording much of his percussion, on top of which he floats a mellow layer of rich samples (both recorded and sourced) that many have loosely described as “ambient gospel”. At just 19, he draws inspiration from an intelligent musical library and seems only to progress in his ability to keep a vision innately aflame. With a forthcoming EP and talk of an album in the works, there’s an artistic journey before this young man that deserves our attention. We praised his performance in San Francisco last month, and now invite you to experience his mixing firsthand. Please enjoy Mister Lies’ exclusive TSE mix below, and check out our interview with the adept producer after the jump. Find Mister Lies on Facebook for updates and sounds.
Slow Magic & Beat Culture - Once
I saw this track over at These Old Colors and it is so nice. The only thing that would make it better is some Steffaloo vocals sprinkled in, but Slow Magic and Beat Culture are definitely a delightful and dynamic duo. Plus it samples the Beach Boys.
I once had a dream so I packed up and split for the city…
